The Beaver Area School District Education Foundation is a non-profit, apolitical, tax-exempt organization established for the maintenance, enhancement, and promotion of quality education for all students within the Beaver Area School District
Trustee Role Description
Beaver Area School District Education Foundation Trustees are chosen through application review and nomination by the current board of trustees.
To be a Trustee you must be at least 18 years old and either reside in one of the Beaver Area School District municipalities (Beaver, Brighton Twp, Vanport, Bridgewater, or Midland.) Or be an alumni of BASD who lives outside of the district. Trustees living outside of the district will be limited to no more than 3, and they may not hold officer positions.
Trustees are voted into a 3 year term and may not serve more than 2 consecutive terms.
Trustees that have reached the two-term limit are able to return to the board after a one year hiatus should they be interested.
Trustees are expected to attend a minimum of 8 meetings a year. Meetings generally last two hours and are held bi-monthly, with additional meetings added at the discretion of the board based on need.
Trustees are involved in the selection of recipients for our mini-grant program three times a year as well as the planning of our annual scholarship program in partnership with the district each spring.
Trustees joining the board should know that this is a working board and their dedication and time is what makes it successful.
Eligible trustees may be elected to take on roles that may include the following: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer.
The Beaver Area School District Education Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) and is governed by all applicable laws and rules pertaining to such organizations.
Additional skill sets the Board is looking for include human resources/policies & procedures, social media/marketing, fundraising, website development, accounting & finance, school relationships, and business relationship cultivation.
After your application is received - the Trustees will review all applications and select new Trustees based on current needs of the Board. All applications will remain on file for future openings. Board members chosen this fall will be invited to our December 2024 meeting and officially join the board in January 2025.
